New Delhi, Apr 22: Army Chief General N C Vij undertakes a four-day visit to Nepal from today as the Maoist infested Himalayan Kingdom moves towards a dialogue. During his visit Vij will hold talks with his Nepalease counterpart Gen Pyar Jung Thapa and would also be conferred an honorary rank of general of the Nepalese Army by King Gyanendera Bikram Bir Shah. He will visit Indian Army run ex-servicemen welfare centres for its Gorkha soldiers including pension payment centres at Pokhra. Vij's visit to the Himalayan Kingdom comes in the wake of stepped up military help by New Delhi to Nepal to fight insurgency. India has provided Nepal with helicopters, jeeps, heavy mortars and training facility in counter-insurgency operations to Nepalese Army personnel. Bureau Report
