Sri Lanka to sign IT agreement with India
Colombo, Feb 27: Sri Lanka would enter into an information technology and communications agreement with India during Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe`s three-day India visit, which gets underway later today, a senior minister announced.

The cabinet of ministers yesterday gave approval for the
ministry of science and technology to enter into the deal to
coincide with the prime minister`s visit, constitutional
affairs minister G L Peiris said.
Details of the agreement were not immediately available, but minister Peiris said Sri Lanka stands to gain from India`s success in the IT sector as well as the communications field.
Sri Lanka has been pushing to seek Indian investments in the IT sector.
During his three-day visit, Wickremesinghe will hold talks with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee as well as several other leaders, including Opposition leader Sonia Gandhi and former premiers P V Narasimha Rao and Inder Kumar Gujral. Bureau Report
