Islamabad, Aug 08: Expressing confidence in the leadership of Pervez Musharraf, the top brass of the Pakistan
army have endorsed the President's view that no timeframe could be given to him to relinquish the post of army chief.
At a meeting of the Corps Commanders', they decided not to accept any "dictation" on Musharraf giving up his military uniform.
Musharraf, who chaired the meeting, said the decision on his relinquishing the post of Army Chief should be left to him.
He said that due to various internal and international compulsions he needed to be the head of the state and chief of the army staff at least in the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, daily 'Dawn' quoted sources as saying that no immediate breakthrough was likely in government-opposition talks to resolve the controversy over the legal framework order (LFO).
Negotiators, conducting talks on behalf of the President, had clearly told members of the cabinet as well as the Mutahida Majlis-e-amal leadership that there was no question of a compromise over the holding of dual offices by Musharraf, the sources said.

the opposition helped in the smooth running of the parliament, he could remove his military uniform before time.
Though the negotiatiors assured the oppsotion that democracy would not be derailed, they asked political parties to take into account the prevailing international situation, specially relations with India and Afghanistan.
