Dhaka, Oct 06: Bangladesh on Sunday protested to India against media reports in India suggesting an unidentified aircraft from its territory had intruded into airspace over a village in West Bengal.
Indian High Commissioner M L Tripathi was called to foreign ministry here and handed over a protest note by acting Foreign Secretary Anwarul Alam Shahid, foreign ministry sources said.

Shahid conveyed to the Indian envoy Bangladesh's concern over such "occasional motivated reporting" by the media which in "no way contributes to the existing friendly ties between the two neighbouring countries."

The Indian High Commisioner explained to the Secretary that Indian government has no hand in such reporting and that the media alone was doing it, the sources said.

Bangladesh had on Saturday termed as "baseless" reports that an aircraft from its territory had intruded into Indian airspace over Chopra village in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district on October 3. Bureau Report
