Damascus, Dec 03: Syria and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have signed a technical assistance agreement for support and rehabilitation of people at the Zayzoun Dam area (midland). The agreement of technical assistance, support, rehabilitation and sustainable development at midland was signed yesterday by Syria's state planning commission head, Dr Tawfeeq Ismail and the UNDP resident representative, Tawfeeq bin Amara.
The agreement, financed by the UNDP (US$ 50,000), the Italian government (us$ 745,000) and Syrian government (US$ 50,000), aims at supporting local efforts of administration of Hama to rehabilitate the damaged area of Zayzoun dam and supplying the area inhabitants with sustainable means of living.
The Italian ambassador in Damascus, Hama governor and senior state planning commission officials attended the signing ceremony.

Meanwhile, Syria, represented by the head of the state planning commission, Dr Tawfeeq Ismail and China, represented by the visiting deputy foreign minister signed two more agreements yesterday.
According to the two signed agreements, china will provide Syria with a ten year loan sums up US$ 4 millions to be used for projects to be agreed upon later and a grant of US$ 1.4 million to be spent on later agreed upon projects.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Chinese Deputy FM accompanying delegation, Chinese ambassador in Damascus and a number of state planning commission technicians. Bureau Report
