London, Dec 18: Night when he performed at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London to help raise money and awareness for people living with HIV and AIDS. He's used to performing to massive crowds and he's been doing so for many years but when the audience features some of the industry's biggest stars who just happen to be your friends too, even a giant like Elton John gets extra nervous. The rock and roll king was performing at the Shepherd's Bush Empire to raise money for his AIDS Foundation. Presented by M.A.C Cosmetics and the M.A.C AIDS Fund, actress Elizabeth Hurley, singer Lulu and designer Vivienne Westwood were some of the celebrities amongst the audience. "...I think its really great that M.A.C. have collaborated with Elton John to support the AIDS Foundation. I do as much as I can to help the charity myself and I'm a big fan of Elton's and it's gonna be a great evening.", said Denise Van Outen.
Elton John's AIDS Foundation was established in 1992 as an international non-profit organization to fund prevention education and patient care services for people living with HIV and AIDS. Over the past ten years the Foundation has funded more than 2,000 grants in North America alone and distributed over 35 million dollars to fund HIV/AIDS programs around the world.

But despite this, John's partner David Furnish said awareness needs to be raised. "I read something in the paper this morning that amongst young German teenagers there's this perception that AIDS is now a treatable disease like diabetes so if you get it you just take the drugs and you're absolutely fine and that's clearly not the case.", he said.
But when it comes to Elton John's music public awareness isn't a problem. He's currently sharing the no 1 position in the British Charts with Blue. John collaborated with the all-male British R&B band on the remake of his 1970's hit "Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word".

And talking of Christmas just what do you get the man who's got everything. "I can't tell you because then I'd give away the secret wouldn't I, but it's very difficult. It takes a lot of advance planning and a lot of hard work and a lot of creativity.", said partner David Furnish.

Whatever the present Elton John is going to receive, after last night's performance atleast the man himself knows he's given his friends a very special Christmas present.
