Srinagar, Sept 05: Jammu and Kashmir government has called for concerted efforts to curb the growing menace of aids in the state. Minister of State for Health and Medical Education Sofi Abdul Gaffar, while launching school aids education programme at Anantnag yesterday, said teachers could be instrumental in educating students about the fatal disease.
Sofi said religious scholars were also being invited, under the programme attended by 500 teachers, to educate people about the deadly disease. The minister said AIDS control centres, equipped with latest technology of testing, were being set up at tourist resorts to prevent influence of the HIV-positive tourists.
Sofi said a modern AIDS control centre had been set up at district hospital, Anantnag, which would be functional soon. The health department experts, teachers and a large number of students attended the function. Bureau Report
