Pune, Dec 22: The special court here would today hear the bail application moved by the incarcerated former Mumbai Police Commissioner R S Sharma in connection with the multi-crore fake stamp paper racket.
Sharma, who was arrested on December one for his alleged role in shielding prime accused Abdul Karim Telgi, had filed an application saying that he has not committed any offence and that there was no evidence against him.
Besides, Sharma said he was also having health problems and hence should be released on bail.
In his application he said considering the facts that he has already retired, there was no possibility of his interfering in the investigations.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), however, had in an application opposed the bail plea of Sharma saying there was prima facie evidence against him and that the investigation had just begun.

Sharma, who is in magisterial custody, had moved the bail application after his request for private medical treatment in jail was turned down by the authorities.

Sharma is the first Police Commissioner in Maharashtra to be arrested under a stringent law for allegedly developing links with an organised crime syndicate.
