Shimla, Oct 23: The Himachal Pradesh government today decided to hike the electricity duty for all categories of consumers, except the domestic consumers, by three paise per unit to fetch Rs 5 crore annually. Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting here, State Chief Secretary Arvind Kaul said that the hike in the electricity duty would come into force with immediate effect. He said the electricity duty for commercial and agricultural consumers would be raised from 15 paise per unit to 18 paise per unit while the duty for industrial consumers would be hiked from 22 paise per unit to 25 paise per unit. However, the duty for domestic consumers would remain at six paisa per unit.
The cabinet also finalised the rules for subordinate services selection board making it mandatory for the board to preserve some records forever.

Earlier the board had been following the rules formulated by it and destroying the vital records after three months. Bureau Report
