The Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) on Thursday announced that it would boycott the October general election if its chairman Benazir Bhutto was not allowed to coutest. ''Ms Bhutto can not be stopped from taking part in the elections. Infact, she would lead the party in the election campaign,'' PPP secretary General Reza Rabbani said. Rabbani was reacting to President General Pervez Musharraf's statement at a media meet in Tokyo on Wednesday that former prime ministers Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif, currenly abroad, would not be allowed to contest the next elections. Meanwhile, alliance for the restoration of democracy (ARD) chairman Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan has urged the government to allow both Bhutto and Sharif to return to the country and play their political role. He said that the government did not have any authority to stop politicians from returning to their country. Bureau Report
