Raipur, June 06: Chattisgarh bandh called by opposition NCP against the killing of its treasurer Ram Avtar Jaggi and supported by BJP today evoked a mixed response even as the police registered an FIR against NCP state president V C Shukla and his supporters charging them with pressurising the police to accept their complaint as an FIR. Cases under various sections of IPC including a case of dacoity had been registered by station house officer of Mohdapara police station V K Pandey.

In the capital where Jaggi was shot dead on Wednesday night, the bandh was almost total with shops remaining closed and traffic on the road thin. Private buses remained off the roads.

From the early morning the NCP activists were seen moving in motorcycles raising slogans against Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his son accusing them of being involved in the killing of Jaggi. Both Jogi and his son have denied the charge.

The bandh call has received a good response in Bastar division where as in Bilaspur division it received a lukewarm response, according to reports reaching here.

Police said no untoward incident had been reported from any part of the state. Security was put on high alert to deal with any untoward incident.
