Ajmer, Aug 15: Brisk preparations, including providing insurance cover to pilgrims, are afoot for the annual Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti here on August 30 subject to visibility of moon. Pilgrims will be insured by Dargah committee through an insurance company, for the first time, for a period between August 25 and September 9 in the city's municipal limit. Every pilgrim will be provided an insurance cover of Rs one lakh for death due to unforeseen circumstances during his stay here, Nazim of Dargah, Abdul Alim said here today.
About 30 special trains will be run and extra coaches would be added to the scheduled trains by the railway administration to clear the rush of passengers during the Urs, which would be concluded on September 4. Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation has announced 101 special buses for the Urs.
Dargah committee will also provide identity cards to every devotee staying in pilgrim sheds specially set up for their boarding.
Every card will bear the name of its holder, name of his pilgrim shed and his bus or vehicle number.
About four lakh pilgrims daily participate in the Urs but their number is likely to be higher this year because of good monsoon and communally peaceful atmosphere in the country. Bureau Report
