Jaipur, Nov 15: A magician and a eunuch are among the 3,427 candidates who have filed their nomination papers for the assembly elections in Rajasthan. On the last day of filing nominations, as many as 1,905 candidates entered the fray taking the total number of contestants to 3,427, an Election Commission spokesman said here today.
A performing magician Gopal Jeengar, chief of Bharatiya Rashtriya Jadoo Kala Akademy, filed his nomination papers as an independent from Sursagar constituency in the costume of a magician and displayed his skills much to the delight of the people, a report from Jodhpur said.
A eunuch, Sushila, filed papers yesterday as an independent candidate from Pushkar, a report from Ajmer said.
The number of candidates is considerably more in this election than the 1998 polls when 2,581 persons had filed nominations.
The largest number of 7,883 nominations were filed in 1990, Election Commission sources said. Bureau Report
