Atlanta, Apr 03: Padraig Harrington is hoping for a boost at the BellSouth Classic in Atlanta as he makes final preparations for next week's Masters. The Irishman, joint second in last weekend's Players Championship in Florida, returns to the Tournament Players Course at Sugarloaf where he opened with rounds of 69 and 65 last year before slipping off the pace.
Harrington, who is now the top ranked European for the first time, is one of 24 players in Atlanta with one eye on the Masters. Tiger Woods and Players Championship winner Davis Love II are both resting, while Ernie Els is giving his injured wrist time to recover.
The big-name rivals for the Dubliner are world number three Phil Mickelson and defending champion Retief Goosen. Also in the field are 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie, who has taken the place vacated by fellow Scot Colin Montgomerie.
Montgomerie's manager Guy Kinnings says the 39-year-old feels he needs to "recharge his batteries" at home prior to the first Major of the year. Last week was Montgomerie's fourth missed cut out of five - and he also made a first-round exit in the Accenture World Match Play.
