Chennai, Nov 28: Lufthansa planned to operate daily flights (Boeing 747-400) between Chennai and Frankfurt from December one, a top executive of the German airline said here today. After the planned flights start, Lufthansa would have been operating a total of 24 scheduled flights per week out of India with a daily flight from New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and three from Bangalore, Werner Heesen, general manager, (passenger sales, India), and director (South Asia), Lufthansa, told reporters here.
The airline will also be offering four seasonal flights on the Bangalore-Frankfurt sector during Janauary 06, 2004 to February 29, 2004.
Heesen said the airline was expecting at least 25 to 30 per cent growth from the Chennai-Frankfurt route in the coming year while a 10 per cent growth was expected at the all India level.
He said the airline was seriously considering adding more Indian destinations in its schedule.
Heesen said that Lufthansa, which was in the red last year, was expecting to turn black this year.
