Gangtok, Sept 28: The BJP today announced its new state committee with H R Pradhan, a former bureaucrat, as its president.
Announcing this at a press conference here, Pradhan said the new pradesh committee was constituted on September 9 after the dissolution of the previous committee headed by K C Pradhan in July this year.
C B Chetri has been appointed the general secretary of the party, Palden Wangchuk and Deepak Lepcha its vice-presidents, Dr Shanti Devi Chetri its secretary and Sanjay Agrawal its treasurer, he said. Pradhan said some posts were still vacant for key office bearers including general secretaries, secretaries and 49 working committee members and a search for the right persons to fill these vacancies was on.
Stating that the pradesh BJP will never deviate from the national policies and programmes of the party, Pradhan said integral humanism and positive secularism will be some of its guiding principles. Conceding that though the ruling SDF's alliance with the BJP-led NDA at the Centre made the front their natural ally in the state, the pradesh BJP chief said the party will continue to criticise the state government for its wrong policies if any.
"Being allies we won't be confrontationist in our approach to the SDF govt but constructive criticism of its laxities if any will continue,' he said adding that on development front the party will remain a watchdog. Bureau Report
