New Delhi, May 04: Faced with the challenge of retaining all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, state BJP today released its "Delhi vision document" promising full statehood, special I-cards for all citizens and other sops besides highlighting the "achievements" of the Central NDA government. The document, released by state BJP president Harsh Vardhan in the presence of all seven party candidates, promises to make Delhi the "most modern capital" of the world by 2020 in terms of infrastructure and basic needs.

The party unit put the demand for grant of statehood to Delhi with "all powers" on top of the document's agenda, which also includes I-card for every citizen, a health card which provides for complete medical check-up every year, a Delhi cultural centre to preserve its cultural heritage and a new force called Delhi traffic friend to make the traffic smooth.
The document calls for making the New Delhi Municipal Council a body of elected public representatives.

It also promises to make Ganga water available to all residents, to link various parts of the city through a network of rails and roads so that travelling does not take more than an hour and to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity at a reasonable price.

"We want Delhi to be comparable to the most modern cities anywhere in the world, where people will get the best of facilities at reasonable prices," Vardhan said.
The document was released with the seven candidates --Jagmohan, V K Malhotra, Vijay Goel, Sahib Singh Verma, Lal Bihari Tiwari, Smriti Irani and Anita Arya -- posing together for the cameramen in a show of strength.
