New Delhi, Jan 12: A man, who was allegedly hit by an AK-47 bullet in the exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists during the attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001, has approached the Delhi High Court for a compensation of Rs five lakh claiming he lost his job due to the injury. Justice Manmohan Sarin today asked the Centre, PMO, Delhi Police Commissioner, SHO P S Tughlakabad and the petitioner's employer Ms Kelki Sood (Prop. Of M/s Rupayan) to file their replies to the petition within four weeks. The court has to ascertain whether the bullet injury was caused during the parliament attack and, if yes, who was liable to pay compensation - the government or his employer. Thirty-seven-year-old Shyam Prasad Khandwal, a resident of Palam Colony here, was working as a supervisor at 6, Aurangzeb road with interior designers M/s Rupayan on a salary of Rs 3,415 a month when he was hit by an AK-47 bullet in his left thigh while sitting in a chair.
According to the petition, Khandwal was supervising the construction work of a guest house of M/s Reliance on behalf of M/s Rupayan.
