Kabul, Mar 21: A land mine exploded in Kabul today, injuring two Afghans, police said.
The mine appeared to be a leftover from the civil war in the 1990s, said Abdul Basir Salangi, Kabul police chief.
The explosion occurred as Afghans were celebrating their new year's day in Kabul's Kart-e-Sakhi residential district - an area that was on the front line between Hizb-e-Wahadat, a Shiite faction, and Jamiat-e-Islami of former president Burhanuddin Rabbani.
The injured were taken to a hospital, and the extent of their injuries was not immediately known, said Salangi.
