Coimbatore, Sept 29: To showcase the tourism potential of the country, a four-day travel mart and tourism expo is being organised in the city from Oct 2. Different types of cuisine from across the country and neighbouring countries, coupled with cultural heritage, health and adventure tourism would be the major highlights of “India Tourism Festival-2003”, N Ranganath, coordinator, Adwise Events, the organisors told reporters here today.
Supported by Tamil Nadu government, with Kerala as partner state, the festival is endorsed with the participation of Pondicherry, Uttaranchal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh state governments, Ranganathan said.
International participants include Malaysian tourism board Sri Lanka and Singapore Airlines, with Tourism Finance Corporation of India, participating to promote finance for tourism projects all over the country, he said. A special training session on adventure tourism is being conducted by born free club of Bangalore, in alpine climbing, rapelling, Burma bridge, river crossing-- all rope and shackle activities- Ranganathan added.
