Lucknow, May 19: A petition seeking directives to Archaeological Survey Of India not to conduct excavation work within 10-ft of the area where the idol of Lord Rama exits at the disputed site in Ayodhya was today filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court. The petition was filed by Nirmohi Akhara, one of the main plaintiffs in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits.
The akhara, in its application, also alleged that the Faizabad commissioner, who is the authorised person in respect of the acquired land, has got one of the trenches covered with soil obstructing the work of the ASI.
The court posted the matter for further hearing on May 21.
Another plaintiff in the case, the sunni central WAQF board, also moved an application seeking permission of the court to allow inspection of the digging site by their own experts.
The court said the matter would be heard on May 21. Bureau Report
