New Delhi, Dec 06: The inaugural Madhavrao Scindia Golf Tournament witnessing some leading luminaries pit their skills against some of India's top amateur golfers will tee-off here at the Classic Golf Resort tomorrow.
The format of play will be a 'Better Ball Stableford' format. The presence of India's top amateur golfers like Simarjeet Singh, Keshav Mishra and promising junior golfer Aditya Singh will heighten the competitive spirit of the tournament.
The tournament is the brainchild of Madhavrao Scindia Foundation instituted in memory of one of India's most outstanding statesman.
''My father was a keen sportsman and golf and cricket were both his passions. Through the Madhavrao Scindia Golf Tournament we aim to immortalize his passion on the very greens which provided him with some of his most pleasurable moments,'' said Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, trustee, the Madhavrao Scindia Foundation.
The field for the tournament is 108 strong and includes leading members of the sports, political, bureaucratic and corporate worlds.



The high profile names competing include the likes of legendary Indian cricketer and a close friend of Shri Madhavrao Scindia's - Kapil Dev, Ajay Jadeja, member of Parliament - Santosh Mohan Dev, ex-Cabinet secretary - Surinder Singh, chairman ITC Ltd. - YC Deveshwar, president CEO, GE India - Scott Bayman, MD, Hero Honda Motors Ltd. - Pawan Munjal, CMD, Vam Organics Chemicals Ltd. - Shyam Bhartia, vice-chairman MD, JM Morgan Stanley Securities Ltd.- Mihir Doshi, MD, Landbase India - Pradeep Jain, vice-president, Professional Golfers' Association of India - Amrit Mathur, president, NDTV -Prannoy Roy and CMD, Cargill India Ltd. - Hardeep Singh among others.
