Anyang Cheetahs, down to ten men for 52 minutes after Kim Dong-Jin was sent off, opened the defence of their K-League Crown on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Asian Club Champions the Suwon Blue Wings.
A typically bad-tempered affair between the K-League's bitterest rivals saw the referee hand out seven yellow cards and two reds, the second to Suwon's Brazilian striker Sandro Dos Santos after the final whistle for dissent.
Kim was sent off in the 38th minute for a late tackle, his second bookable offence after a similar foul ten minutes earlier.
Frantsiek Koubek continued Anyang’s tradition of always winning the opening game of the season with a 26th-minute strike. The Czech striker reached Jung Kwang-Min's knockdown ahead of Suwon goalkeeper Shin Bum-Chul.
