Israeli forces arrested several militants on the outskirts of Arab East Jerusalem on Sunday, hours after a double Palestinian suicide bombing killed 12 Israelis in the Jewish section of the city, Palestinian witnesses said. Israel's Army Radio said the suspects rounded up in the pre-dawn raid were activists from an Islamic college in the Palestinian village of Abu Dis, a hotbed of Palestinian nationalism. Israeli officials had no immediate comment.
The Israeli operation came shortly after Saturday's bombing, one of the worst attacks by Palestinian militants in 14 months of bloodshed since an uprising against Israeli occupation erupted after peace talks deadlocked.

12 people were killed and at least 180 were wounded when two Palestinian suicide bombers blew themselves up and a car bomb exploded on a popular Jerusalem promenade just before midnight on Saturday. Bureau Report
