New Delhi, Jan 07: The Centre has asked Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to present fresh proposals on assistance required from it to nab forest brigand Veerappan. "They have been asked to come with a fresh plan and re-work their proposals", Union home secretary N Gopalaswami told reporters today after a day-long conference of chief secretaries and directors general of police on internal security.

The Centre, he said, would examine what kind of assistance would be required by the two states in their task to catch the elusive bandit. The Centre had last week stepped in and had offered assistance that could include despatch of the elite national Security guards (NSGs) after the chiefs of special task forces from the two states met senior union home ministry officials.
