New Delhi, Mar 11: The Supreme Court today upheld a West Bengal government order banning the `Tandav` dance ritual of the Anand Margis in public places.
A three judge bench comprising Justice S Rajendra Babu, Justice A R Lakshmanan and Justice G P Mathur, by a majority to two to one, thereby allowed an appeal by the state government against a judgement of the Calcutta High Court. By the impugned judgement, the high court had set aside the order of the state government, banning the `Tandav` dance in public places, while allowing a writ petition filed by an Anand Margi. The details of the judgement are awaited. Bureau Report
