Chennai, June 20: A designated Pota court today extended till July seven the remand of R R Gopal, editor of Tamil bi-weekly "Nakheeran", who was arrested on April 12 on charges of sedition and under the Arms Act and brought under the provisions of the anti-terrorism law on April 16.
The extension was made by designated Pota judge L Rajendran at the high security court at suburban Poonamallee.

On June 16, a vacation bench of the Supreme Court had restrained the Tamil Nadu government from filing the chargesheet against him in the Pota case till further orders.

The bench, comprising Justice R C Lahoti and Justice Brijesh Kumar, gave their order on a plea by Gopal.

Meanwhile, Gopal's counsel P T Perumal filed two petitions on behalf of his client seeking a copy of the complaint notebook maintained by the Crime Branch-CID of Tamil Nadu police, the investigating agency, during Gopal's interrogation while in police custody from April 22 to 28.
