London, Jan 27: Spoof horror film "Scary Movie 3" has spooked the final installment of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy off top spot at the British box office, finally ending its five-week reign. The comedy, the third in the mock-terror series, pulled in 3.5 million pounds in its opening weekend, according to Screen International Tuesday.
Despite only lukewarm reviews from critics, the film, which parodies recent thrillers such as "Signs," "The Ring" and even "The Lord of the Rings" itself, has already topped the North American box office.

"The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King" fell to second spot, with Tom Cruise's "The Last Samurai" dropping to third.
"Lost in Translation," an offbeat comedy which recently won three Golden Globes, was in fourth spot. The movie stars Bill Murray as a washed up actor and newcomer Scarlett Johansson as two lost souls who find each other in Tokyo.
