Srinagar, May 02: Opposition National Conference today threatened to pull out of the third and fourth phases of parliamentary polls in Jammu and Kashmir if the Election Commission failed to take action on its complaint against ruling PDP president Mehbooba Mufti. NC has lodged a complaint with the EC against the PDP president alleging that she had "harassed and humiliated" a genuine voter at Sonawar during the second round of polls in Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, party spokesman Devender Rana said here. He said NC was contemplating to pull out of the remaining two phases of the polls if the commission failed to act on its complaint as Mehbooba had "flouted all election norms". The PDP president, while making a tour of election booths on April 26, had allegedly forcibly removed the veil of one Shabum while she was at the Sonawar polling station accusing her of being part of the NC's mobile voter team. Anantnag of south Kashmir goes to polls in the third phase on May 5 where Mehbooba is the ruling party's candidate while in the last phase Ladakh and Udhampur are slated for polling on May 10.

Rana claimed that NC had substantiated its allegations against the PDP president with photographs and the statements of the voter. The party would make one more representation to the EC on the issue before taking a final decision.
NC president Omar Abdullah was not available for comment on the issue as he was headed for Banihal in Doda district for election campaigning. Bureau Report
