Chang heads list of US Open wild-card entries
New York, Aug 16: Former world No. 2 Michael Chang was among eight men granted a wild-card entry to the US Open, which will be his final tournament as a pro.
New York, Aug 16: Former world No. 2 Michael Chang was among eight men granted a wild-card entry to the US Open, which will be his final tournament as a pro.
Chang, 31, is retiring after a 16-year career in which he
won 34 singles titles.
He won the 1989 French Open at 17 to become the youngest grand slam men's champion and was the runner-up at three majors, including the 1996 US Open. Had he beaten Pete Sampras in that final, Chang would have risen to No. 1 in the rankings.
The other wild-card entries are Brian Baker, Alex Bogomolov Jr., Amer delic, Robert Kendrick, Alex Kim, Jeff Morrison and Robert Yim.
