Mumbai, July 22: The trial in the case involving film financier Bharat Shah and three others for their alleged involvement with the underworld, would resume today in a special court with the prosecution examining a key witness.

The trial was adjourned on July 12 on a plea made by Shah`s lawyers Shrikant Shivade and Vibhav Krishna. The prosecution has so far examined one witness - the Deputy Commissioner of Police R D Shinde who has recorded the confession of film producer and co-accused Nasim Rizvi. The second witness would depose today. The prosecution has listed 108 witnesses in the case including film personalities Shahrukh Khan, Rakesh Roshan, Salman Khan, Priety Zinta and Rani Mukherjee. Besides Shah and Rizvi, other accused in this case are Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh and Dubai-based jeweller Mohammed Shamshuddin alias Bhatija.

Police claim to have recorded telephonic conversations between Shah, Rizvi, Abdul Rahim and Pakistan-based gangster Chhota Shakeel, which reveal that they had targeted film personalities for personal gains.

Police also contend that the film "Chori Chori Chupke Chupke" was made by Shah and Rizvi at the instance of gangster Shakeel. The proceeds of the film have been attached by the court receiver. Bureau Report
