Nasik, Nov 26: A case has been registered against 13 Chhota Rajan gangsters, presently lodged in Nasik road central jail, for causing death of a detenue.
The police booked the gangsters after the death certificate of Nasik civil hospital indicated the cause of the death of the detenue Omprakash Adhyaprasad alias O P Singh as ‘asphyxia’.
Singh (42), a former member of Chhota Rajan gang, who was detained in the jail since February 2002 under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) and other acts, was found dead after he went for a bath on Sunday.
The body bore marks of nylon rope on the neck, a wound on the head and blood clots in nose and ears.
Jail Superintendent Yogesh Desai told a news agency , “We have already registered a complaint against 13 Chhota Rajan gang members.” Omprakash, according to police sources, had fallen out with the gang.

Since all the members belonged to one gang, they were kept in one cell, he said adding the gangsters have been booked under Section 304 of IPC.

Meenakshi, wife of the deceased, told reporters in the jail premises yesterday that it was allegedly a pre-planned murder by the Chhota Rajan gang members, and held responsible both jail authorities of Nasik road and Mumbai's Arthur road for the incident.

She alleged Omprakrash was killed at the behest of Rajan gang.
