Gangtok, May 16: Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today called upon the people of the state to dedicate all their energies towards building the state and not to allow themselves to be misled by vested interests. Speaking at a function here to mark the 28th State Day here today, the chief minister said, "On this great occasion let us pledge to devote our energy to the all-round development of the state."
Urging people to be on guard against forces out to misguide them, Chamling said it was time they learnt to turn the opportunities coming their way to their advantage to build themselves so that the state is steered on the path of progress. Stating that under the Chief Minister's Self-Employment Scheme, interest-free loans were being given in the state, he said the youth looking for employment should come forward to avail of this opportunity to set up a business of their own. He said his government was soon going to launch its "one family, one productive scheme" plan under which it will be compulsory for every family in the state to engage itself in at least one productive scheme.
