"Security forces arrested four people carrying French
passports 10 or 12 days ago. On Monday, they were still in the
custody of intelligence services in Aden," a local authority
official told a news agency on condition of anonymity.
He gave no reason for their arrests.
The French foreign ministry said today that four French citizens suspected of involvement in the September 11 attacks in the United States were being held in Yemen.

consulate in the Yemeni capital Sanaa was providing assistance
