Raipur, Feb 24: The Speaker Rajendra Prasad Shukla today allowed opposition in the Chhattisgarh assembly to take up the privilege motion against Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in connection with the resolution passed in his presence at the CLP condemning Deputy Speaker Banwarilal Agrawal for his reported remarks against the judiciary. Immediately after Question Hour, initiating discussion whether to admit the motion, senior BJP leader Brij Mohan Agrawal said they also did not agree with the chair on many occasions but never made allegations against the Speaker.

What was the basis for passing a resolution, he asked alleging that it was prompted by the fact that Banwarilal Agrawal had filed a petition against Jogi in the high court and issued statements in press against the chief minister.

In 1977, it was decided that the deputy speakership should be given to the Opposition for the smooth functioning of the house but unfortunately Jogi could not tolerate any criticism and worked against the procedure, Brij Mohan said.
