Kolkata, Sept 28: The Indian Cricket Board would announce the National Selection Committee today amidst indications that its chairman Brijesh Patel was likely to be replaced because of his health problems.
"The formation of the selection committee would be discussed tomorrow and a decision will be taken," the board president Jagmohan Dalmiya told newsmen after the opening day's deliberations.
Asked about continuation of patel as the committee's chairman Dalmiya said "we will think twice before taking such a decision as at the moment our prime consideration is his health."
He said that patel underwent a successful bypass surgery and was shifted to the general cabin from the ICCU during the day. "We hope that very soon he will be among us."

Incidentally, Patel was yesterday appointed director of the National Cricket Academy, Bangalore, headed by Sunil Gavaskar.

In case of Patel failing to make it to the selection committee, a new representative would come in from south zone, with former India keeper Syed Kirmani's name doing the rounds for it.

In such a situation a new chairman of the selection committee would also be appointed. For this, at the moment, north zone's representative Kirti Azad looked a strong contender.

Among other selectors Pranab Roy (east) and Sanjay Jagdale (central) were almost sure to retain their posts, but there was a possiblity of a change in the west zone. Kiran More represents the west in the present committee.
