Atlanta (US), Jan 31: Coca-Cola Co has said it will cut about 1,000 jobs as part of a reorganisation of North American operations. The beverage giant said it would integrate operations of its three principal units in North America, including Coca-Cola North America, Coca-Cola Fountain and the Minute Maid Company, as well as operations at Odwalla and Danone Waters of North America.

"This will make our North American business simpler in process, sharper in strategic focus, and more competitive in the market," chief executive officer Doug Daft said in a note to employees made public. About half of the lost jobs will come from Atlanta, the company said. "This process is expected to be completed by the end the first quarter, 2003."
