Mumbai, Feb 10: A special court today exempted for three weeks film actor Sanjay Dutt and 86 other accused in the 1993 bomb blast case and directed CBI to produce the absconding accused by March 10. CBI was warned that after March 10 they would not be allowed to add any accused to the existing list as the trial had reached its fag end.

About 34 accused, including Dawood Ibrahim, Tiger Memon, Annes Ibrahim, Mohammed Dossa and Javed Chikna, are absconding and believed to be hiding in Pakistan. In keeping with a judicial directive, 84 accused today appeared before the court. Those who did not turn up were Issaq Hajwani, Mohammed Sultan Sayed and Shaikh Kasam Babulal.

Hajwani is not well, Mohammed Sultan`s relative is not well and Shaikh Kasam is recovering from injuries he sustained during a shoot-out recently, defence lawyers Subhash Kanse and Farhana Shah informed the court.

Exempting the accused till March 3, the judge warned the accused not to leave the city limits without permission during the period. They were told not to establish contact with absconding accused in this case and ensure that they were represented by their lawyers in the court.

Outside the court, fans of Sanjay Dutt gathered in large numbers to take a close look at the actor.

The court deferred till February 13 the bail petition of Parvez Qureshi who has urged for permanent liberty on medical ground. The case was adjourned by the judge as the accused was not brought from the prison.

Qureshi is suffering from peptic ulcers and was granted interim bail for a long period last year. However, he recently surrendered before the court in keeping with a judicial order.

Defence lawyer Subhash Kanse filed a petition urging for permanent bail for Qureshi. The court has asked CBI to file its say on Qureshi`s plea and adjourned the matter to February 13 for arguments.

In another development, the court allowed co-accused Ashrafur Rehman Shaikh alias Laloobhai to visit Bagalkot in Karnataka for treatment from February 12 to March 5. He is suffering from depression and wanted to undergo naturopathy treatment, Kanse urged.

About 35 other accused are lodged in central prison since last nine years. They are produced before the court regularly. The court is located in the prison compound.

On December 9, CBI had wound up its arguments and closed the case.
