Rohtak, May 23: A gangster from Delhi was today shot dead in the court complex here by members of a rival gang when he was brought for production in a murder case. About half a dozen armed men, who came in a car, pumped bullets into Anup Singh, who was being brought in by a team of 10 policemen, police said. Four policemen and two of the assailants were injured in the ensuing encounter, they said, adding they have been admitted at the local PGI centre.

Police said Anup Singh had been brought to Sonipat jail from Tihar jail on May 16 and was brought here today for being produced in a murder case.

Two assailants along with one of their accomplice have been arrested. The others escaped in their car.

The arrested, allegedly belonging to the Krishen gang, have been identified as Mukesh, resident of village Dewra (Delhi), Kaptan (both admitted in hospital) and Joginder alias Gola, resident of Ladhpur village (Delhi).
