Kaithal, Sept 18: A reporter for a vernacular daily was on Thursday shot dead at his residence here by three unidentified persons, police said. Parmanand Goel, reporter for Punjab Kesari and Haryana Union of Journalists district president, was killed around 7 am (local time). Police said three persons came on a motor cycle to Goel's residence and told his son that they wanted to meet his father. Goel's son asked them to wait for his father on the lawns and left for some work.
When he returned he found his father lying in a pool of blood. Goel was rushed to a hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Several organisations and political leaders have condemned the incident.
