Mumbai, Aug 31: India's foreign exchange reserves rose to $61.035 billion in the week ended August 23 from $60.639 billion in the previous week, the Reserve Bank of India said in its weekly statistical supplement on Saturday. This rise was due to the foreign currency assets witnessing a jump of $396 million at $57,777 million, the apex bank said.

Gold at $3,248 million and special drawing rights at $10 million remained unchanged, it added.

According to the supplement, loans and advances to the Central government for the week ended August 23 declined by Rs 1,902 crore to Rs 1,044 crore while that to state governments fell by Rs 620 crore to Rs 2,371 crore. Bureau Report
