New Delhi, Sept 22: The many moods and artistic pursuits of legendary film maker Satyajit Ray all come alive in his photo-biographer Nemai Ghosh's collection of 101 black and white stills that capture for posterity the painstaking creativity which went behind making each one of his films.
Some of the finest moments in ray's life of film making are immortalised in frame by his photographer of 25 years. Every aspect of what went into making of a ray film is depicted in the exhibition entitled 'Satyajit Ray- From Script To Screen' currently on at the National Gallery of Modern Art. It has been curatedby the director of NGMA Rajeev Lochan.
Ghosh, who has in his personal collection more than one lakh photographs of Satyajit Ray, including working stills from his films since "Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne" during the shooting of which his association with ray first began, has offered the 101 stills currently on display to the NGMA. The exhibition has got a go ahead to travel to Greece and Mauritius. "My passion for theatre developed ever since I was a child and my interest in lighting was an integral part of theatre. Also, my ability to catch the exact mood, the precise moment, the particular posture, the body-movement, the facial expression are all rooted back to my theatre training", points out Ghosh, who is often referred to as Ray's Boswell.
