New Delhi, July 23: Mohan Prakash, former general secretary and spokesman of Janata Dal (U), today joined Congress expressing faith in the party`s leadership.
Welcoming Prakash into the party fold, AICC general secretary Moti Lal Vora described him as a seasoned politician with years of experience.
He said that his presence in the party would help strengthen the organisation.
Prakash, who had quit JD (U) in May, told reporters that he was extremely unhappy over the communal carnage in Gujarat and the role played by JD (U). He said that developments in Gujarat and the role played by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and home minister L K Advani there amounted to negation of the spirit of freedom struggle and its values.
He called upon all those who believe in Gandhian principles to oppose this under the leadership of Congress.
