New Delhi, Feb 12: With Lok Sabha polls round the corner, the BJP today highlighted the achievements of the NDA government it heads at the Centre. Addressing a press conference in the capital, party general secretary Arun Jaitley said that the BJP-led government had taken several steps to push India on the path of development.
“The Vajpayee government has taken several initiatives, including offering loans at reasonable rates, credit facility of farmers at the rate of 9 per cent, crop insurance schemes, Kisan Credit Cards etc,” Jaitley said.
“Why just economy, NDA has provided a directional performance,” he said. “The environment created has resulted in confidence building in the country and a changed perception of India in the world. Today, Indians can walk with their heads held high because of this changed perception.”
Jaitley said that the maturity of this government’s leadership, particularly of the Prime Minister, has reassured the country. “The PM has provided stability in coalition, taken initiatives in both North East and Jammu and Kashmir and skilled foreign policy management,” he added.
“Therefore,” Jaitley said, “there are three questions in front of the electorate now. Who is the leader of our alliance and where is the alternative? What is the agenda? We have a proven track record on alliances as well as performance. And the third question is the entire incoherence of alternative plan in terms of governance as well as track record in the states.”
