New Delhi, Dec 18: Top seeds in the men's senior section cruised into the last eight stage, while major upsets were the order of the day in the women's pre-quarterfinals of the DSCL Open National Tennis championship here yesterday.
In the men's section, top seed Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu outplayed R Narendran of services in a one-sided encounter 6-0, 6-0, while second seed Vishal Punna (Andhra) staved off a fine challenge in the second set to register a straight set win over Vijayendra Laad (Maharashtra) 6-3, 7-6(3).
Third seed Kedar Tembe of Maharashtra had an easy outing. He conceded one game in the first set and four in the second to emerge a 6-1, 6-4 winner.
