Former queen of erstwhile state of Baroda, Shantadevi Gaekwad, was cremated in Baroda on Friday. She died on Thursday at the age of 88 after a brief illness.

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi flew to Baroda on Friday morning and offered floral tributes to the departed soul. He described her death as great lost to the city of Baroda and Gujarat.
Several members from royal families from all over the country including Congress MP from Guna Jyotiraditya Scindia attended the funeral.
Offices of the Baroda municipal corporation remained closed on Friday as a mark of respect to the queen.
