Siliguri, Jan 15: Eight persons had been rounded up in connection with the killing of four persons by suspected KLO ultras at Hajrahat in Coochbehar district hours before Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee's tour of north Bengal, police said today. All of them were being interrogated, Inspector General of Police (North Bengal), Bhupinder Singh told.
Going by the modus operandi of the operation, the police were sure that it was done by KLO, Singh said.
The assailants, riding a motorcyle, went to a video parlour at Beltapara in Hazrahat Grampanchayat of Mathabhanga sub-division at around 6.45 pm last night and fired indiscriminately killing three persons on the spot while another died at hospital.
The deceased were identified as Ajay Biswas (20), Gour Mandal (20), Rabi Biswas (18) and Goutam Sarker (18), police said.
Three live cartridges of AK-47 were recovered from the spot, a police official in Coochbehar said.
Singh said BSF was alerted to ensure that the killers could not cross over to Bangladesh as the border was only three to four km from the spot. Bureau Report
