Tamil Nadu farmers on study tour of Karnataka
Tiruchirapalli, Dec 05: In a tour of goodwill, mutual friendship and cooperation, a group of farmers from the Delta region of Tamil Nadu will undertake a study tour of Karnataka from today, to make an on-the-spot study and assess the water storage position in Cauvery reservoirs.

TN Cauvery Delta Farmers' Association general secretary Mannargudi S Ranganathan, told newsmen here that the tour was a reciprocation of a similar study tour undertaken by farmers from Karnataka to the delta region in the state, in July last.
The team comprised 20 farmers from Nammakkal, Karur, Cuddalore, Tiruchirapalli and Thanjavur districts of Tamil Nadu and from Karaikal region of neighbouring Pondicherry.
The team, in its three-day visit, proposed to visit Mandya, Maddur, Hassan and Mysore and the programme included visits to Hemavathy, Kabini, Krishnaraja Sagar and other reservoirs in Karnataka, he said.
Ranganathan, said the present tour was the fourth round all of which had been initiated by Chennai based Madras Institute of Development Studies, to enable farmers of both states to clear any misapprehensions and understand the real situation confronting both the states.
