Lucknow, June 15: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) today said that it would consider any proposal in writing from the Kanchi Shankacharya Jayendra Saraswathi to resolve the vexed Ayodhya issue even as AIMPLB vice president Mualana Kalbe Sadique withdrew his resignation tendered reportedly following differences in the leading Muslim group. "Though the matter is in the court and we have made it clear that we shall abide by the court verdict, if a good proposal comes to us from any quarter, we shall consider it,” AIMPLB president and noted Islamic scholar Maulana Rabe Hasan Nadvi said here.

The Maulana denied the temple issue was discussed during his recent meeting with the Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Peeth Jayendra Sarswathi.

"The Shankaracharya had come to inquire about my health. We did not discuss the temple issue, though he said he had some proposal to resolve the dispute," Nadvi said.
"I asked him to send his proposals in writing," he said adding that so far he had not received any thing from the Shankaracharya.

"If any written proposal comes, I shall refer it to the (AIMPLB) working committee which will consider it," he said.
Nadvi reacted sharply to the statement by the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari that AIMPLB would not be allowed to bargain on the Babri Masjid issue saying Bukhari was in the habit of making "irresponsible remarks."
Replying to a pointed question, he said Kalve Sadique had withdrawn' his resignation. "Sadique had resigned due to his other pre-occupation but he has now withdrawn his resignation," Nadvi added.
