The Prevention Of Terrorism Ordinance and the coffin issue are expected to dominate the week-long winter session of Himachal Pradesh assembly which commences on Tuesday. The session would have five sittings, including a private member's day, and will conclude on Dec 24. Opposition Congress party is expected to raise POTO, alleged irregularities in the purchase of coffins for Kargil martyrs, imposition of user charges and corruption. Leader of opposition V B Singh said that the Congress was of the view that POTO could be used against political opponents and was opposed to it.
Minister of state for excise and taxation Parveen Sharma said that Congress had no issue at all and that the government would not allow it to force a non-issue. Heavy security arrangements have been made for the session being held under the shadow of Dec 13 attack on Parliament by terrorists.
